Monday's Menu: Week 1



Here is my first "Monday's Menu" post. Now that Alec and I are living in our own apartment and no longer eating college campus food, we are planning our meals weekly. This is saving us money at the grocery store and keeping us from rushing to fast food when we are hungry and have no idea what to have for dinner. 
Do you plan your menus out each week?

We do most of our shopping at Aldi stores so the prices reflect the store prices. This is another key way that we are saving money. We only head over to Walmart or the dollar store for last minute groceries or if we are looking for something that Aldi doesn't carry.
One final note: we make most meals for just the two of us, and usually have left overs for lunches the next day or two. Therefore, the totals are calculated for the whole meal, not by serving size.

Monday, June 24th- Sunday, June 30th

Monday: Asian Stir Fry Lettuce Wraps
frozen stir fry vegetables ($3.49, enough for 2 meals)                $1.75
frozen chicken tenderloins ($5.99, enough for 5 meal portions)  $1.50
brown rice ($1.49, enough for 4 meals)                                     $0.37
lettuce ($1.18 for head of lettuce, two meals)                              $.59

Tuesday: Whole Wheat Pasta with Mixed Vegetables

Total: $3.83

Wednesday: Crock Pot Pulled Pork

18 oz. BBQ sauce                             $0.79
1 can of root beer ($2.39 for 12 cans) $0.20

Total: $10.34

Thursday: Bacon Cheeseburgers and Salad

bacon ($2.99, 2 meals)                                $1.50
American cheese slices ($0.99 for 24 slices) $0.17
leftover lettuce for salad                               $0.59
Total: $3.15

Friday: French Toast and Bacon
loaf of wheat bread ($0.99)       $0.50
low fat syrup ($1.79 per bottle) $0.90
bacon ($2.99, 2 meals)              $1.50
Total: $2.90

The other two days we won't be home, but I cannot reveal why because it is a secret! 

Grand Total: $24.43
