A photo of Alec and I after his graduation, taken in the back yard of our first apartment.
Hello everyone.
First of all, I want to say Thank You to everyone that read and commented on my heartfelt, venting post last night. Your encouragement means the world to me and I'm so glad to have you all as readers. Unfortunately, I switched back to blogger comments because I was sick of Google+ not letting people comment unless they had google accounts. This means that all of the comments I have received while using Google+ have disappeared. (sad face). Sometimes I just sit here and start writing and begin to think that nobody will really care how my day at the lake was. Turns out, that is what blogging is all about. Lifestyle blogging, especially. Sew, I'll keep on keepin' on. I'm glad you like my completely random post topics because the thought of narrowing my blog content down to one type of hobby just makes me cringe. I've got far to many interests for that.
Now on to say how very fast summer is moving along. Can you believe it is already August? I'm sure this is how ever July wrap up post begins, though. My favorite part about August is that it is my birthday month. I'm turning 20 this year. The big two-oh. Kissing my teenage years goodbye (and good riddance). I've learned a lot and I'm ready to learn more.
Everything is really coming to a clean closure at the end of this month.
First of all, Alec finally got a job!
He has been working construction the past two months and going to job interviews since he graduated this past spring. I had a great feeling that he got a job and when he called me from the interview an hour away I answered by blurting out, "Did you get the job?!" He happily told me that he did get it and I proceeded to have these peanut butter cookie sandwiches made up for him before he arrived home. He will be starting his career in the next few weeks and I couldn't be more excited. It feels great to finally have our own apartment and to have him working full time at a reliable job. Three years ago when we were celebrating our relationship from different states seems like forever ago. We've come a long way and I love every moment of it.
Secondly, I picked up my scrubs for school today. After putting on all my brand new scrubs and draping my pink stethoscope around my neck, I had a moment when I looked in the mirror and really felt "grown up". Time just flies by and now I'm training for my own career.
I also am finally getting a few days off work to read, write a story I'm working on (eeek!) and relax for once. It is positively rejuvenating and I'm loving every moment.
Now for my favorites from July:
I learned to can strawberry jam with my mom.
Finally did some sewing and made some fabric book covers.
Ventured out and discovered "The Amish Mall" with my mother.
Went on a nice picnic at the beach with my man.
Mia shared her delicious recipe for Blueberry Scones!
I shared a DIY for $0.99 coasters on Cheltee's blog.
And spent hours and hours creating this recipe book that is for sale on my Etsy shop.
What did you do this July? Are you ready for August?
Congrats to Alec! And happy early birthday. I need to try to make some fabric book covers as Christmas gifts this year--it seems early to start thinking about it, but considering how fast the summer flew by, I'm sure fall will disappear in a hurry too. (Sad face)

ReplyDeleteCongrats to Alec - awesome !! And the picture of you two is beautiful :) I am so glad you changed the comment thing ! don't worry about lost comments - it is about the interaction in the present. But I understand that you like to read nice comments from the past, too - but be honest, how often do you go back and read past comments? :) And I think readers themselves probably are more interested in what YOU have to write than what others comment anyway :) Just trying to make you feel better about that! I am sooo glad you switched the comment back ! One happy girl hehe.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I wonder if it counts pageviews from phones, too.... You have quite a lot of pageviews this week (I am on the computer right now - on the phone I don't see that, so I don't know how many you usually have) so there you also can see that many people are interested in what you have to share :)
Yesterday I was at an event where there was a crafting room - and we sat down and we made stars (like ornaments) out of ribbons and I had to think of you and how you, too, would have enjoyed doing that! I love doing all things crafty - it's like having a spa day for me always hehe - it's so relaxing :) Ok... I hope you read that. WHO KNOWS IF YOU EVEN READ THAT ;p hehe I JUST LOOOVE YOUR BLOG ! keep doing what you do ! <3 (it should show me as kurseve / wordpress - if not, that's me! however, i'm glad i get to comment :) evelyn
